Pearl Dental Software - About and FAQ
About
Our Pearl Dental Software product has been used as ‘practice management’ software since 1993. It has undergone changes from a DOS based system to a Windows based system on the way.
Pearl has had remarkable success in the UK since 2006, we have been continuously installing systems ever since we started our ‘technology based approach’ to marketing at the end of 2006. About 80% of practices have swapped to Pearl from their existing system.
PearlPlus is our very latest incarnation of Pearl software. Pearl has had a complete rewrite based on the considerable and welcomed feedback we have received from practices, that is why we say ‘Software designed by you!’ – because it really is!
Because of advances in technology can now offer PearlPlus as private practice management software to all English speaking countries outside the UK as well as to mixed NHS and private practices in the UK.
FAQ
Why is Pearl so inexpensive compared with other leading practice management products?
At Baker Heath we have no sales personnel to pay and we do not have the expense of sending people out to give demonstrations. Everything is done using technology, demonstrations can be seen on this website, updates and support are done over the Internet. If you need to see something that is not shown on our website then just ask and we’ll deliver.
Is there a contract between us?
There is no ‘tie in’ contract at all, if the subscriptions are paid then you can use Pearl and we will support and upgrade you. We’ll keep you on the latest version and NEVER let you down on support.
What PCs do I need to purchase?
Any modern PC will be able to run Pearl Dental Software. The operating system should be XP, Vista or Windows 7. No need for a proper server, a peer to peer network is fine. PCs in a network must be connected using either a wired connection or a fast ‘home plug’ connection. Wireless connections between PCs must NOT be used. You need broadband and a printer.
Do I need any extra software?
Have at least one PC on you network that uses Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook (if you want to produce email merges). Text messaging does not require any extra software but does require the broadband connection.
Will Pearl integrate with my radiography software?
Yes
Can you move the data from my existing practice management software?
Yes, but not the charting. About 80% of our customer base have transferred to us from other dental software products.
How does Pearl Dental Software compare with expensive practice management software?
It does everything found in the most expensive dental software package but it is more simple to use. Let’s list a few features; patient records, patient accounts, diary, charting (as taught to dental nurses), pre-made diary recalls, traditional recalls, clinical notes with autotext, simple BPE and enhanced BPE with 6 point pocket depth, soft tissue recording, medical history, merging to text messaging, merging to emails, merging to MS Word, sticky notes on patient record, family group handling, adhoc searching and sorting, etc.etc.
What features are available for English practices with NHS contracts?
We print a totally accurate practice UDA/UOA counter. The schedule is automatically reconciled. We keep you informed about every aspect of your FP17 claims.
Will you be catering for the Steele contract in England?
Yes, this latest version of Pearl has it covered.
Your product was called Pearl, why is it now named PearlPlus?
Bearing in mind that Baker Heath has now had 18 years worth of feedback of dental practice requirements we decided to incorporate all these wishes in one purpose built product. We have called this product ‘PearPlus’.
Do you offer anything else?
Yes, touch screen patient check-in. Automatic anonymous patient surveys to see what patients really think (if you dare!), web post printer driver – just print to this and your patient will get a letter without you printing a physical letter, putting it into and envelope and sticking a stamp on it!
What happens if all my PCs are destroyed or stolen?
So long as you have a backup, just get a new PC on the Internet and we’ll get you going again in 15 minutes flat!
